In the summer of 2024, Network Fuel was brought in by ASP and LiveLee to deliver the network at the first-ever multi-title football esports competition, The eFIFA Next Gen event.
The eFIFA Next Gen event at the Liverpool Exhibition Centre was the first-ever multi-title football esports competition, featuring Football Manager and eFootball. The event took place across two halls, each with unique technical requirements. One hall hosted 20 Football Manager teams competing for a place in the final, alongside content creators and a press conference area. The second hall was transformed into a high-production gaming TV show, where eFootball matches were played and the Football Manager semi-finals and final were broadcasted live.
The main challenge was delivering an ultra-low latency, high-performance network for both gaming and production. Network Fuel had to ensure a stable and redundant network that could support competitive gaming, live streaming, sponsor activations, and content creation—without interruptions. Since eFootball is a mobile game, a rock-solid WiFi network was also required. Additionally, all critical systems needed power and fiber redundancy to eliminate the risk of failure.
Brought in by ASP and LiveLee, Network Fuel designed and deployed a fully redundant network infrastructure across both halls. The gaming network was optimized for ultra-low latency, ensuring smooth gameplay and fair competition. A separate, high-performance network was built to support the broadcast team, ensuring uninterrupted live streaming and media production.
Since eFootball required a stable WiFi environment, Network Fuel engineered a dedicated enterprise-grade WiFi network to guarantee a lag-free experience. The entire setup was built with redundancy in mind—fiber failover paths were established to prevent downtime, and UPS power backup was implemented to keep critical IT equipment running in case of power fluctuations.
To maintain full control over the network, Network Fuel’s custom monitoring platform provided real-time data insights. This system continuously tracked performance and logged data, allowing instant troubleshooting if needed. Fortunately, the setup ran flawlessly, and no intervention was required
The network infrastructure handled an average of 6TB of data transfer per game day without any failures. The gaming experience remained smooth, with players benefiting from equal, ultra-low latency connections. The broadcast network delivered uninterrupted streams, and the WiFi network for eFootball operated seamlessly, allowing mobile competition without lag or packet loss.
By collaborating closely with the Liverpool Exhibition Centre, Network Fuel optimized network routes to minimize latency. The redundancy measures in place ensured zero downtime across all systems. The event concluded with an exciting Football Manager final, where Miracle from FM Ciki Indonesia defeated Svonn Goly to claim the championship title.
By delivering a high-performance, redundant network, Network Fuel played a key role in the success of eFIFA Next Gen. The event showcased the growing demand for scalable, low-latency network solutions in esports, where milliseconds can decide the outcome of a match. With the esports industry continuing to evolve, Network Fuel remains committed to providing cutting-edge network infrastructure that supports the future of competitive gaming.
