Guns N' Roses - 2022 Tour

Touring with a band as iconic as Guns N’ Roses means delivering a high-performance, rock-solid technical setup across some of Europe’s largest stadiums and festivals. The challenge was twofold: ensuring a reliable network infrastructure for lighting and video while also managing the Follow-Me remote follow-spot system. With each venue having a unique stage and rigging setup, the system had to be recalibrated daily. The scale of the venues—from massive stadiums like Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London to major festivals like Hellfest in France—demanded a solution that was both flexible and dependable.

Jeroen was hired by Neg Earth Lights to design and execute the network infrastructure and oversee the Follow-Me system throughout the tour.

‍Network Infrastructure: The lighting and video systems relied on a stable, low-latency network for real-time communication between consoles, media servers, and fixtures. A redundant system was implemented to ensure failsafe operation, minimizing any risk of outages.

‍Follow-Me System: Follow-Me is a remote follow-spot control system that allows operators to track performers using moving lights instead of traditional follow-spot towers. This provided more flexibility and precision, particularly in large-scale venues where conventional spot ops would be difficult to position. Each day, the system was recalibrated to match the stage dimensions, ensuring seamless tracking of the band members under dynamic lighting conditions.

The tour successfully delivered flawless lighting and video synchronization across all locations, with a fully redundant network keeping the production running without interruption. The Follow-Me system allowed operators to maintain precise tracking across vast stage layouts, improving both visibility and creative lighting effects. Stadiums, open-air festivals, and multi-level venues posed no issues thanks to careful planning and daily recalibrations.
